Guided Tours in Leksand

Welcome to Leksand!

There is plenty to explore and experience here.  Our authorised Leksand tour guides share the stories and places of Leksand's natural and cultural heritage sites, as well as glimpses of everyday life - now and then. We offer guided walks in Leksand's town centre - "Noret". We also offer tours by bus or car to interesting sites throughout the municipality. Of course, we also guide in the entire Siljansbygden and other parts of Dalarna.

Guided walking tour in central leksand

The small agricultural village of Noret is the heart of Leksand's town centre. During this guided walking tour you will see what has shaped the town throughout history. We will stop by the quay by the river, the church wall, ice hockey arena and Sammilsdal with Sweden's tallest midsummer pole.

Learn more about historic milestones such as a major fire, the development of shipping on lake Siljan and the Österdal River as well as the arrival of tourists at the end of the 19th century. Today's Noret is filled with cosy shops and restaurants – part of Leksand's varied trade and industry.

TOUR AROUND LAKE INSJÖN

Lake Insjön is situated in the centre of the municipality of Leksand. It is a part of the Österdal River. The approximately 40 km long tour around the lake offers stunning views. It goes through some of the region's typical densely built villages, living farming landscapes and forests, past the remains of significant mining sites as well as through the town of Insjön that is known for its entrepreneurial spirit. We visit the renowned weaving mill Insjöns väveri, a business that with new owners has had a fresh start recently and ensures that the local weaving tradition is being passed on.

SILJANSNÄS with breathtaking views

The tall observation tower on the mountain of Björkberget in Siljansnäs offers the most widereaching views across lake Siljan and its surrounding. The tower is part of naturum Dalarna,  Tornet är en del av Naturum Dalarna, a visitor centre in nature, is Sweden's largest naturum. Exhibitions at naturum give you more information on Dalarna's nature, for example the unique geology of its landscape and its five large predators.

Buffils Anna's coffehouse is situated near naturum. This has been a classic coffeehouse for 100 years in 2025. After a visit to the mountain of Björkberget, the tour goes along the other side of the bay passed the villages of Almo and Alvik.
